International Summer School
Photothermal and Photoacoustic Techniques: Theory, Instrumentation, and Applications

The International Summer School "Photothermal and Photoacoustic Techniques: Theory, Instrumentation, and Applications" is organized within the framework of the Graduate Program in Environmental Sciences, offered by the Graduate School of the University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia.
The International Summer School 2019 will be organized in cooperation with Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia) as a series of intensive lectures and case-study presentations of plenary and invited lecturers of the 20th International Conference on Photoacoustic and Photothermal Phenomena (ICPPP-20).
The International School will be held on July 6, 2019 in the Chemistry Department, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow, Russia with no additional fees from ICPPP-20 participants.
The School will be a part of the United Nations' International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements.
International student participants will earn 10 ECTS credits for completion of the International Summer School, after their final evaluation.
The School will have a common course on the theory, instrumentation, and applications (2 lectures, 1 hour each) followed by two parallel courses (selected at the stage of registration) of 4 1-h lectures each:
I. Photoacoustic and photothermal spectroscopies in medical sciences and practice (School1). This course will be included in the program of Continuous Medical Education (Непрерывное медицинское образование) of the Russian Ministry of Health for clinical-test specialists, oncologists and dermatologists (see the Russian counterpart page for more details).
II. Photoacoustic and photothermal spectroscopies in applied physics, chemistry, and material sciences (School2).
We have invited top scientists and lecturers from universities all over the world, who will offer lectures in the areas of photoacoustic and photothermal techniques and instrumentation, such as: Photoacoustic and Photothermal Phenomena, Photoacoustic Spectroscopy, Thermal-Lens Spectroscopy, Photothermal Beam Deflection Spectroscopy, Infrared Photothermal Radiometry, Non-Destructive Evaluation & Testing of Materials, Biomedical and Biological PA & PT Applications.
The International School is intended for the students of the graduate level, who have research and future professional interests in photonics, photothermal and photoacoustic techniques and related issues, and their fundamental, biomedical and technological applications.
School participants will have the opportunity to intensively interact with an international team of leading experts in the field of photothermal and photoacoustic sciences and to discuss their studies and research interests.
The coordinator of the International Summer School 2019 is Prof. Mikhail Proskurnin from the Lomonosov Moscow State University. The International Summer School Directors are Prof. Mladen Franko from the University of Nova Gorica, Slovenia and Prof. Andreas Mandelis from the University of Toronto, Canada.
