Talk title: Ultrafast photogeneration of acoustic phonons: fundamentals and applications.

Graduated in Université Rennes, France (Magistère Physique – DEA Condensed Matter Physics), he obtained his PhD in 2001 in Ecole Centrale Paris on high temperature transport, optical and structural properties of non-stoichiometric oxides. As post-doc and assistant professor, he carried out research on Metal-Insulator phase transitions along with the development in Le Mans University of experimental ultrafast optics and picosecond acoustics (since 2002). With his team, he contributed then to the description of microscopic mechanisms of GHz-THz coherent acoustic phonon photogeneration processes in metals, semiconductors, ferroelectrics and topological insulators. He also contributed to the development of picosecond acoustics methods to probe/image phonons dynamics and elastic properties in nanostructures. He is member of several scientific committees of international conferences (Phonons Scattering in Condensed Matter, International Conference of
Photoacoustic and Photothermal Phenomena, EMRS), and of the Program committee of Photonics West PW. He is member of the French Physical Society since 2005. His research was awarded by several grants from national and european agencies.
